His style of teaching is well-rounded and really effective. It's based on objective ways to deal with different road situations and has a strong focus on real reference points that you can apply in most situations. He's very professional and friendly, always had a plan for each lesson, and adjusted things based on what I needed work on. I could see that he genuinely cares about the people he teaches. Overall, I don't think you'll find a better instructor.

Ian was very patient and gentle in his approach. I am a beginner student with no prior experience in driving, but he was able to teach me in a way that I could understand fully. The practical (driving) part is quite challenging for me; however, he remained tolerant and calm in addressing my mistakes, always providing timely feedback.

First time learnt driving with Ian and passed restricted license test with flying colours, with the comment from the testing officer ‘It didn’t feel like I was sitting besides a learner’. Clear instructions with every practice session and always teaches ways for SAFE driving. Only able to get the restricted license thanks to Ian’s classes. The best!!!

Helped me tremendously with my restricted test. He taught me some very useful and special driving techniques that not many others know about. The techniques he teaches boils intimidating driving maneuvers down to a series of simple steps that'll work on any car (such as parallel parking and lane switching). Ian was amazing!!!! At first I wasn’t sure which instructor to book with and how many session should I go for. After the first lesson with Ian, he was calm, patient and passionate about his teaching, I decided straight away that I would do at least 10 lessons with him. It took me 10 years to brave myself learning to drive, Ian made me feel confident straight away coz I can see he carefully went from master basic steps to advance driving skills. I found myself excited and looking forward to each driving lesson which meant I really enjoyed it, no stress at all. He’s not only an instructor but also a friend to me. I've tried 5 different instructors, 3 from individual instructors and 2 from AA. AA instructor’s cars have camera & voice recorder to protect both parties, as a female I feel more secure and safe and it is great that AA instructors wear uniforms. I love the feedback report after each lessons so that I can review myself which helps me improve. I live in the city and have very bad car sickness, but I travel to North Shore to get driving lessons because Ian is the best! Ian is very patient and understands the beginner's anxiety very well. He has a great method of teaching and I appreciated every moment of his lesson and patience.

An absolute legend. Always full of energy, optimism, humor and patience. He is a calm presence always guiding you who also who knows when to let you do it on your own. The best part is he loves his job and his passion really makes me enjoy the driving too, he believes in you every step of the way and never gets mad no matter how many times you make the same mistake! He is very understanding and knows how to handle every situation. He takes you through a lot but in gentle, small steps. Really looking forward to my next lesson! I'll have to give him a big hug when I've had my final lesson with him.
